Private Residence

Madison, WI

 

The client wished to transform their 1940s home into a place which reflected both their lifestyle and aesthetics. They preferred a modern style with clean lines, external geometries and a play of voids and solids as well as sunlight and shadow. The project involves three major elements:

​

•A rear addition which creates three spaces: A basement craft/bedroom; A first floor dining and living space; And a second-floor master bedroom suite

•A roof deck utilizing the existing flat roof on the garage

•A ridge connecting the deck to the master bedroom suite

 

Other key features include a new roof massing, all new siding and windows, a relocated kitchen and an urban courtyard.
