The initial goal of this project was to save as much of the existing house as possible. Although the construction was poor, the foundation was able to be re-purposed and establishing the footprint for the design and creating the “story” of the home.
The home takes advantage of a sloping site by creating three living levels with their own distinct uses. The main level is for gathering, the lower level for play and utilities and the upper level for sleeping.
Simple and clear external geometries and an open plan with limited circulation space were developed to create living spaces which fit the family's lifestyle and budget. Abundant natural light and vistas of the adjacent park are present throughout.
The exterior features a two cladding materials accented by “punches” of color.
